Since its creation, Cobiotex has been devoted to the research, development and marketing of perfectly defined bacterial complexes using strains identified and registered in the national collection (C.N.C.M. - Pasteur Institute). These strains have not undergone any genetic manipulation and have no pathogenic or toxic potential for living organisms.

Cobiotex is an original concept based on the control of natural bacterial ecosystems which develop in biologically active environments such as:

  • soil and water
  • living organisms
  • different nutrient-supplying media

The equilibrium of an ecosystem depends on specific bacterial families that prevent most of the other bacterial families from developing beyond a certain threshold which would perturb the ecosystem. However, the equilibrium is however fragile and subject to the influence of diverse elements with deleterious effects on living organisms.

The different natural bacterial ecosystems are influenced not only by the presence of micro-organisms, but also by several other elements including, alimentary, climatic, environmental and health factors.

Thanks to a better understanding of the major ecosystems present on farms and in the agriculture industry, Cobiotex has provided farmers and the agriculture industry with a means of controlling local ecosystems and reducing contamination by deleterious germs and thus optimize the genetic potential of the animals and improve the quality of organic waste products while reducing environmental pollution (ammonia, odors).

This approach has also made it possible to considerably raise yields and improve upkeep of private and community equipment: sanitary facilities, waste water networks, septic tanks, lagunes.

The research and development unit at Cobiotex is a multidisciplinary team of high-level scientists working in close coordination with the university. Using the latest techniques of modern biotechnology, this team has developed more effective, safer and easier-to-use products.

Current research is basically focused on:

  • Liquid manure and bedding treatment and odor reduction
  • Improving the quality of nitrogen waste by-products
  • Optimizing equipment for public sanitary facilities
  • Controlling bacterial ecosystems
  • Treatment of biofilms
  • Prevention measures against pathogens (Salmonella, Listeria, Staphylococci…) in ecosystems
Cobiotex has acquired substantial knowledge in the fields of molecular biology, analysis of bacterial ecosystems, bacterial stress, bacterial synergy, and inhibition between bacterial families.
This know-how has led to the development of a wide range of products based on the properties of the Bacillus-Lactobacillus combination. These bacterial complexes and their applications have been the object of two international patents.

Our research, conducted within the framework of a University-Cobiotex contract with the laboratory of microbiology and biotechnology at Bordeaux (ISTAB), has required a major, but necessary, financial investment to offer the user with adapted high-performance and economical products.

Production of our bacterial complexes is controlled by rigorous quality assurance procedures meeting the necessary market requirements for quality and trackability.
